Fate and Destiny — a system of one
Fate vs Destiny — a system of one
Do you ever get fate and destiny confused? I certainly do. I can never remember which is which.
I was meditating and the subject of “fate” came up and I decided to ask my Higher Self for clarity around the two concepts. This is what she said.
Fate is to allow life to be.
Destiny is creation.
Interesting. I asked her for more.
Both carry purpose.
Fate is to flow and allow. Fate cannot be undone.
Destiny comes from will. It is up to you to create. Some things are left for alchemy.
If all is fate, then creative integrity would not exist. Creativity creates. It is necessary for evolution and the expression of Light.
I ask her: Right now, am I in a time of fate? She says:
It is not this way. Fate and destiny are an interchange. They subsist as one.
Fate and destiny — If that made no sense, let me explain.
Fate happens. It’s all the things that happen in life out of the blue. Destiny is what we make happen from a place of creativity.
Fate and destiny are tied together as a system. One feeds the other. Fate is a chance meeting with a new friend or an experience that seeds a creative spark. Destiny is a choice we make to pursue and cultivate the friendship or take the spark to create something into being. Both concepts are interdependent on each other.
Let me be clear: Fate is not punishment.
After this channeling, I go on google to see what others have written about fate vs destiny. And although the jist is similar, there is one clear distinction I’d like to make.
At times, fate can feel like a punishment, but it’s not punishment. Fate brings conditions that allow doors to open for destiny to kick in. Sometimes, that requires something painful to occur like a relationship or job to end. It’s not punishment — rather, something that simply happens so that you’re awakened into seeing another choice.
Some writings make it sound like destiny is a “better path.” That if you’ve made all the right choices you are granted the rainbow road of destiny. This notion that destiny is a “better path” only perpetuates false religious ideals that there are set rules for “right” and “wrong”— if you do the “right thing” then, heaven is available to you, and only the righteous can enter that gated community in the sky. (Ahem, Christian institutions, actually, what the bible says is the Kingdom of God is within you! And we can access it anytime we want.)
God is actually way more loving than to set stringent rules. The Universe or “god” doesn’t actually care what you do, because god loves you not for what you do, but simply because you exist. (A concept that our productivity prone society has a lot of trouble with!) God would prefer if you do your thing with loving intention — but god leaves it up to you to choose (aka Free Will).
Fate and Destiny as Life Purpose
You may be curious about the concepts of fate and destiny as it relates to life purpose. As my higher self said “Both carry purpose.” — both fate and destiny contribute to our purpose.
One thing to realize about purpose is that although we may have set a purpose before we were born into our lifetime, I don’t believe it’s as exact as we think it is.
I think back to my corporate days when we would set annual goals that would be the basis for our employee reviews. They would be things like “Create a plan for project X and increase revenue by Y.” The Universe (or god) don’t have goals written out that we’re then reviewed on and we get a checkmark if we hit our quota. Rather it’s more something like “Bring more joy to the world.” – But how you do that is up to you and perhaps your personality and soul have ideas on how you may do that, which is individual to each of us.
The Universe supports our life purpose through fated events. Destiny is when we decide to take the opportunity. If you don’t, it’s not “wrong” and there’s no punishment. The Universe will simply give you another. So don’t sweat it too much — the Universe has got your back!
Sending much love and light!
In gratitude, Bonnie
